- 1). Apply a light coating of olive oil to a 12-inch pan and place it over low heat.
- 2). Position the tortilla wrap on the work surface. Ladle or brush any sandwich spreads on the wrap, leaving about 1/2 inch of space around the edges.
- 3). Distribute 1/4 cup of cheese, if using, in an even layer on the wrap, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- 4). Arrange 1/2 cup of sandwich filling in an even layer on the cheese. Leave approximately 1/2 inch of space around the edges.
- 5). Layer 1/4 cup of diced toppings you want heated over the filling. Some ingredients, such as onions, hold up better to heat than others, such as tomatoes.
- 6). Place the wrap in the saute pan and place a cover over it. Heat the wrap until the cheese melts and the filling is hot.
- 7). Arrange any cold toppings, such as pickles, on the filling. Grasp the bottom edge of the wrap and roll it forward securely, but not so tight that the filling squeezes from the sides.
- 8). Cut the rolled sandwich in five slices, each approximately 2 inches thick.
