- 1). Measure the size of your wrist. Add 2 inches to the initial measurement to ensure the bracelet is snug but not constrictive. Double the size of the measurement to equal the length required for each string or cord. If your total measurement is 7 inches, for example, you will require two 14-inch-long strings or cords.
- 2). Select two strings or chords of alternate colors. Choose a red cord and a blue cord, for example. Cut each cord to the determined length.
- 3). Tie one end of the red and blue cord together, allowing 1 inch of free-hanging string above the knot.
- 4). Move the red cord under the blue cord. Make a 1/2-inch loop with the red cord.
- 5). Push a 1/2-inch of blue cord up through the bottom of the red cord loop. The 1/2 inch of blue cord is now shaped like a loop. Pull the red cord taut.
- 6). Push 1/2 inch of red cord up through the bottom of the blue cord loop. The 1/2 inch of red cord is now shaped like a loop. Pull the blue cord taught. Repeat steps 5 through 6 to continue the stitch until 1 inch of each single cord remains.
- 7). Push one free end of cord up through the current loop. Pull both strings taut to finish the stitch.
- 8). Drape the bracelet over your wrist. Tie the loose-hanging bracelet cords together to secure the homemade jewelry to your wrist.
