How to Build Your Own Wireless Network Connection Manager

    • 1). Click on "Start." Type "CMD" in the search box at the bottom of the "Start" menu. Press "Enter" to open the "Command Prompt" dialog box.

    • 2). Type in the following command at the blinking cursor, excluding punctuation marks: "netsh wlan show settings."

    • 3). Wait for the Command Prompt utility to execute the command and display results. The last line of the results will show the following text: 'Auto configuration logic is DISABLED on interface "Wireless Network Connection".'

    • 4). Type the following command after the blinking cursor: 'set autoconfig enabled=yes interface="Wireless Network Connection"." Press "Enter." This changes management of the wireless adapter from third-party software to the native software in Windows. Exit Command Prompt.

    • 5). Click on "Start." Type "Network and Sharing Center" in the search box at the bottom of the "Start" menu. Press "Enter." Click on "Manage Wireless Networks" in the left pane.

    • 6). Double-click on the icon for the wireless network adapter. Click on each of the tabs in the "Wireless Network Properties" dialog box. For example, on the "Connection" tab, select "Connect Automatically When This Network Is In Range." On the "Security" tab, select the "Security Type" from the drop-down menu, such as "WPA-Personal." Click on "OK."
