- 1). Turn the Kenmore refrigerator's freezer temperature control to "Off," unplug the refrigerator, close both doors and remove the toe grille, which is beneath the doors, by placing a hand on either end and pulling forward. The toe grille protects the bottom hinge of the fresh food door.
- 2). Remove the screw holding down the plastic top hinge cover and set both pieces to one side. Trace around the hinge with a pencil and loosen and remove the hinge screws. Pull up the hinge plate. Have a friend support the door once the top hinge has been removed. Tracing the hinge makes it easier to align the new door.
- 3). Lift the old door off the bottom hinge and set it to one side. Place the new door onto the bottom hinge and have a friend support it in an upright, closed position.
- 4). Place the hinge place back in place on top of the refrigerator and connect it to the door. Screw the plate back down according to your markings and replace the cover. The assistant can now release the door.
