- 1). Place the Weed Eater upside down on a table or on the ground so you can access the string head.
- 2). Pull on the tab button located on the center of the string head to remove the bobbin from the trimmer shaft. It may take some force to pull the bobbin off.
- 3). Unravel any remaining string from the bobbin and discard it.
- 4). Cut two pieces of 0.080-inch string to 12 ½-foot lengths with a utility knife.
- 5). Place the tip of one string into the small hole drilled into the side of the bobbin. Wrap the string around the bobbin in the direction indicated by the arrow on the top of the bobbin. Keep the string centered over the top half of the bobbin. Stop when you get to within 7 inches of the string's end. Press the string into the notch on the bobbin.
- 6). Repeat the same process with the second string. Keep this string centered around the bottom of the bobbin.
- 7). Slide the bobbin into the string head. There are two holes in the side of the string head. Feed the strings through the holes. Push on the bobbin until it snaps into place.
- 8). Pull hard on each string to remove the string from the notch on the bobbin.
