- 1). Use the Media-Convert online converter. The Media-Convert converter offers many options for converting Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet files. Besides Excel and OpenOffice, you can convert to StarCalc, StarOffice, PDF and more.
- 2). Upload the spreadsheet that needs to be converted. To upload, click on the "Open File" or "Browse" button next to "File." This will open a window to search for the Lotus 1-2-3 file on your computer. When you locate the file, click "Open."
- 3). Choose an input format if the auto detection fails. Media-Convert is set up to detect files automatically and fill in the input format. If it selects the wrong file type, you can correct it by using the pull-down list of available format types and selecting "Lotus 1-2-3 (.123, .wk1)." "Lotus 1-2-3 (.123, .wk1)" appears under the "Data" section of the list.
- 4). Select your preferred output format. The options for converting a Lotus 1-2-3 file will populate in the list next to "Output format." To select, click the arrow next to the box by "Output format" and pick the option of your choice from the list.
- 5). Rename the new spreadsheet file. If you do not provide a name, Media-Convert will name the converted spreadsheet the same as the original Lotus 1-2-3 file. If you want to name it something different, type the name into the box next to "Rename file to."
- 6). Click the "OK" button. Media-Convert will start converting the Lotus 1-2-3 file and show the status of the conversion on the screen. Once the Lotus 1-2-3 file has converted to the new file type, a new page will come up with a link for the new spreadsheet file. Click the link and download the file to your system.
