How to Get More People to Read Your Blog Contents

Getting people to actually read my blog contents is something I am continually improving and when I review my blog tracking tools to see if any of my posts have recorded a very low reading time duration, I take note and figure out why it is so.
This post is the end result of what I have come to see as the reasons why some of my posts have not achieved the desired attention of blog readers and I hope you take it to heart if you are a serious home based business entrepreneur.
You would be glad you did.
So sit down, relax and enjoy this post on how to get people to read your blog contents.
Studies show that internet readers scan, skim and skip around blog contents more than they read.
9 Simple Tips to Get People to Read Your Contents 1.
Always Use Strong Headlines and Sub-headlines One of the first things I do when I want to write a blog post is to write down about 5-7 headlines I know would do the magic and would make people want to read it, not forgetting that the search engines should not be ignored.
I craft the best sub-headlines I think would complement my efforts too.
At least two.
People don't like to read long lines.
Your sub-heeadlines are like 'mini-headlines'.
Make use of them as often as you can.
2.
White Lines Are Your Friend I'd say it again, "Don't bother about what your English composition teacher taught you".
She aint got the time to read your blog anyway.
One of the best ways to make your blog contents readable is to employ a lot of white lines.
Keep your sentences sweet and short.
Maximum of four sentences in a paragraph is okay.
3.
There is Power in Text Fomatting When you are writing a blog post that you want to get read, there are bound to be words that you would want to emphasize.
Make use of Bold, Italics,Underline, strike-through, highlighting etc.
It's a powerful cos even if a reader is scanning, words that are formatted stand out and call attention.
4.
Employ Numbered and Bulleted Features If you are an essay-kind of person, you might not really understand how compelling bulleted and numbered lists are.
Because they provide a visual break for the reader, they are fascinating, inviting and get your points across to your readers easily.
5.
Your Readers Love Pictures I was not even thinking of including this until I read a post two hours ago without an image.
Why? I don't know.
I'm sure we can all remember how alluring picture books are to us when we were growing.
As adults we still believe in the 'a picture is a thousand words'.
Use at least a picture in your articles.
I see people use two, three pictures and it looks wonderful.
Just don't turn your posts into picture books.
6.
Use a Friendly Theme The appearance of your blog matters.
Dark backgrounds together with lighter colored print is great on the eyes.
Adjust your settings such that your blog print is not so small to read and the lines are not too close together.
7.
Talk, don't Write to People Each one of us has got our favourite bloggers.
These blogs are written in a natural conversation style that resonated with us.
They don't try to be professional writers.
When you write, envision yourself sitting with your best friend and having fun.
How would you speak to him? That's the way you should write.
Some people are just too business-like in their writing that you are left wondering if the article was really meant for you.
Let people love coming to your blog cos you speak with them, not write to them.
8.
Know What You're Talking About I have seen some people who while trying to sound intelligent make a mess of the situation.
Look, no one expects you to know everything, but we expect that you would have thoroughly researched what you intend to share with us.
Quoting outdated statistics and facts that are no longer valid does not exactly put you in the league of the 'expert'.
What you don't know, Research! What you have no idea how to research about, leave to those who can.
Thank you! 9.
Proof-read over and over again I am sometimes guilty of this.
But the truth is that I would read and read only to publish a post and see that it's still got typos.
How annoying that is! So you see, you cant proof-read enough.
Go over your articles over and over again.
The unfortunate thing is that your readers tend to determine your level of intelligence by your grammar.
If you want to look and sound sound (that's no typo ) and intelligent to your readers, take care of your grammar.
