- 1). Place mesh tape sticky side down over all joints on walls and ceiling (it can be cut with scissors, or tradesman's knife). Make sure the center of the tape is directly over the joint. Run your hands over the tape to be sure it is stuck to all areas.
- 2). Fill a drywall tray half full with joint compound. Use a 6-inch drywall knife to apply compound--place the blade in the center of the joint and spread compound out towards the edge. Continue until the whole joint has been covered. Then run the knife over the joint from top to bottom, smoothing the compound.
- 3). Cover all screw/nail heads with compound. Wait for it to dry. Sand all areas smooth. If necessary, apply a second coat and sand again, until you have a smooth finish. Wash your tray and drywall knife with warm soapy water.
