- 1). Choose from one of the many luggage shipping companies and arrange for booking. Schedule a day and time for pickup and a day and time for retrieval at your destination. Also decide how much baggage insurance you want. Depending on the company, you may be able to book as far as six months ahead.
- 2). Pack just like you would for a regular trip. You will receive tags from the company to attach to your bags. Lock your bags and attach the tags.
- 3). Make sure your luggage is ready at the appointed time. If you are at a hotel and you are not going to be there at pickup time, leave your bags with hotel staff.
- 4). Pick up your luggage at your destination, or arrange to have it delivered. Most companies guarantee on-time arrival. You do not have to be present when the luggage is delivered, but make sure someone is there to accept the delivery.
