- 1). Purchase a bottle of Goo Gone, an oil-based cleaner, from a local home improvement retailer or hardware store. This chemical cleaner safely removes grease, tar, gum, and sticky residue from virtually any surface, even fabrics and clothing.
- 2). Spray or pour a small amount of Goo Gone onto a clean microfiber cloth. For an excessive amount of dry glue, apply Goo Gone directly onto the affected areas of the t-shirt.
- 3). Wipe the spot of glue until it appears to soften. Gently scrub the area until the loose glue has been lifted from the shirt.
- 4). Allow the Goo Gone to soak into the fabric longer if any filmy residue persists. Wipe away the remaining glue and wash the fabric in detergent for a thorough cleaning.
- 5). Use white vinegar as a home remedy on fabrics that Goo Gone can damage, such as silk, leather, and suede. Heat a small amount over a stove until warm, then pour the vinegar into a clean spray bottle. Spray the glue and allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes before wiping it clean.
