- 1). Contact Nextel customer service and request the IMEI code. The IMEI code identifies the particular phone in question and will be kept on record by Nextel. Depending on the agreements made in the contract with Nextel they might charge for this information. As a subsidiary of Sprint, customer service for Nextel can be reached at the link provided in Reference 2.
- 2). Turn off the Nextel phone. Remove the protective battery cover on the back of the phone. Near where the battery is housed is a smaller slot with a small memory card in it. This is Nextel's SIM card. Replace it with Boost's SIM card, which they will provide when a contract is entered for their service.
- 3). Restart the phone. Sensing Boost's SIM card, the Nextel device will ask for permission to move forward with a prompt on the screen. This permission is given by entering the IMEI code on the dial pad of the phone. After the code is entered the phone will proceed using the Boost network rather than Nextel's.
