The Importance of Healthy Nutrition When Breastfeeding

During your pregnancy you are restricted to eating only healthy food which will not affect in any way your baby's health.
Once you give birth to your child and start breastfeeding him, you will have to maintain the same healthy lifestyle.
Even though your diet will not be as restrictive as when you were pregnant, you will still have to be very careful at what you ingest.
It is highly important that part of everything you eat and drink will be transmitted in the milk you are producing and with which you feed your baby.
And because your baby's stomach is not still accustomed with all the substances and it is not able to fully cope with them, your baby may develop diarrhea or other similar conditions which may cause discomfort or even affect their health, one way or the other.
For this reason, you should definitely avoid food which contains preservatives or chemicals, as your baby will have to suffer if he ingests such substances.
The more natural the food you eat is, the better will be for your child.
You should replace all the pre-cooked or fast food meal with vegetables and fruits.
Not only are they very easy to digest, but they are also a good source of vitamins and minerals.
Your baby will need as much of these as possible in order to develop properly and be able to strengthen its immune system and because you will not be able to give your baby food supplements for the moment, you will have to make sure he gets all the nutrients he needs from the milk you are providing him.
In addition to this, you should avoid drinking alcohol or drinks which contain caffeine.
Although you are allowed to drink one glass of wine once at two or more days and have a small cup of coffee wince in a while, you should refrain from doing this regularly or excessively, as both alcohol and caffeine are substances which can harm the baby.
Yet, a glass of beer it may help you with the milk production, especially when you have a baby which is eating more than you can provide him.
If you can, wince in a while drink coffee or alcohol, it is prohibited to start smoking.
There are mothers who think that once they have delivered they baby, they can take up smoking again.
This is far from being true.
If you have a baby, and especially if you plan to breastfeed him, you should, under no circumstances take up smoking again, if you do not want to put in danger your baby's life.
Eating healthy and avoiding chemical products is crucial when breastfeeding your baby.
Do not forget that you are now responsible for the life of two persons, yours and your baby's and you cannot afford neither of you to get sick.
