- 1). Pull out all of the paper trays and push them in one at a time. Send a test print to the printer one tray at a time. Take note of which tray is causing the paper to jam.
- 2). Pull out the tray that is jamming as far as it will go, then carefully lift it up. You will feel the tray come loose from its tracks.
- 3). Pull the tray out and set it aside. Make sure you set the tray on a level surface. Look inside the printer and locate the rollers on the right side.
- 4). Pull the rollers off their supporting prongs and examine them. The rollers should have a rough texture; if they are smooth they will not be able to pick up the paper properly.
- 5). Slide the new rollers on to the prongs and push them until they lock into place. Pick up the tray and slide it back into the printer, making sure that the tray is sitting on the track. Continue to push the tray into the printer until it locks into place.
- 6). Check under the toner cartridge for stuck paper. If the toner cartridge is not seated properly in the printer the paper may hang up as it moves through the printer. To check the toner open the cover, remove the toner cartridge and remove any paper that may be stuck there. Then replace the toner cartridge, making sure the toner is pushed all the way down.
- 7). Open the cover over the fuser cartridge, flip down the retaining clips and pull the fuser out. Paper sometimes will get stuck as it enters or exits the fuser cartridge. Pull the fuser out of the printer and check it for torn or stuck paper. Then carefully push the fuser back into the printer and secure it with the retaining clips.
