How to Make Bottle Bird Feeders

    • 1). Wash the plastic bottle and remove the outer labels. Dry the bottle with a towel.

    • 2). Poke two small holes in the bottom of the plastic bottle with either scissors or a knife.

    • 3). Thread a piece of string through the holes to make a hanger for the feeder. Tie the ends together in a knot to make a loop.

    • 4). Use scissors or a knife to poke two additional holes on opposite sides of the bottle, about 3 inches away from the cap. The holes should be large enough in diameter for a chopstick to fit through.

    • 5). Insert the chopstick into one hole and out the other hole on the opposite side. This is the perch for the birds.

    • 6). Cut out two feeding holes with the scissors or a knife on opposite sides of the bottle, just above the chopsticks. The holes should be one third of an inch in size.

    • 7). Open the cap and fill the bottle halfway with birdseed. Replace the cap.

    • 8). Hang the bottle from a tree limb.
