- 1). Disconnect the power cord from the outlet. Insert a putty knife into the gap between the top and front panels of the dryer. Press the knife into the spring clips located about 1 inch from each corner.
- 2). Lift the top panel up and off of your GE dryer.
- 3). Remove the screws on the bottom of the front panel with a Phillips head screwdriver. Disconnect the wire connector that leads to the door switch connector. Lift the front panel away from the dryer cabinet.
- 4). Push the idler pulley off of the belt to loosen it. Remove the belt from the pulley.
- 5). Lift the drum out through the front of your GE dryer.
