Basic foundational elements for starting your own lucrative business - Part 2

Increase your knowledge!

Once you have started working on you mindset, with regard to your worth, the next step in laying the foundation for a successful, sustainable, lucrative online business is to gain “knowledge”. Remember, if really want to earn an income using the internet, it is not a hobby, it is a business and should be treated as such. If you treat it like a hobby, you will eventually end up being frustrated and broke. Many of you will not be like me who grew up in BC (before computers). So you might not have such a battle with this one as I had. There are dozens of basic things that one needs to learn both about using PC software and the functionality of the internet, as well as using the “worldwide web” as a system with the multitude of “web tools”, etc.

I have mentioned and in this article will be able to deal with only a fraction of what you would need to have knowledge about and be able to apply in terms of the multitude of mechanisms that are needed to run a business online. The good thing about this step is that most of the knowledge that you might need is available on the web…FREE. You just need to take the TIME to learn how it functions and how to use it to your advantage.

It’s easy to learn things. It just takes some willpower and self-discipline. Just sit down at your PC everyday and start by searching the web for “How to start an online business from your home…” That information will include information on the software that you will need, web tools, type of internet access, e-mailing, tracking, etc. So once you have found this out, you can then proceed to get access to all of these things and learn how to use them to establish your online business. Remember, it takes TIME.

In finding out this information however, there are some important points to remember AND internalize;

?          Don’t just jump at every offer that appears to be “amazing”; check it out first.

?          Just having tools that help you to “drive” traffic to your point of sale or generate “leads” to convert into sales, does not constitute a business enterprise. More about this below:

You first need a product to market; before we go further with this, let’s define the term product. This is not necessarily a physical object such as you might find in a supermarket or on a show room floor. A product can be a term of reference for including but not limited to a physical object, a service, software, information or even a life-style element. Whatever the nature of the product, it is able to be marketed.

Once you have a product, you need to have a place where people can go to view, express interest and/or purchase the product, such as a website or e-mail address. Such places may be merely a “portal” through which people might reach the “point of sale”, as is the case with affiliate marketing.

If you’re reading between the lines, you will already have noticed in the previous two paragraphs that quite a number of elements have been named or implied that are critical to successfully run your lucrative online business already. There are many more to know about but the important thing to remember here is that, like with any business all of the systems need to “talk” to each other and be in synergy. If this is not the case, things will start falling through the cracks and business will either remain stagnant or disappear.

Things like your internet connection, URL, e-mail address, shopping basket, affiliate link, auto responders, etc are foundational to such a business. They are the equivalent of your premises, office equipment, cash register, accounting system, display window, bill boards and such like that you would need for a traditional “brick and mortar” business.

Which ever way you look at it, to establish and grow a sustainable profit turning business online, there is a lot to learn with regard to the operating mechanisms within such a business. They cannot all be learned at the same time. They have to be researched established and practiced in order to achieve the skill needed to apply them effectively.

In part three of this article, we will talk about a mission pertaining to operating a legitimate profitable business online.

See you in the winner’s circle.
