Planning Your Time in Wellington New Zealand

If you've got an upcoming trip to the New Zealand's capital and are unsure what to do there you may be surprised at how much this city has to offer in respect to its size.
It's a good idea to plan your time in Wellington well to ensure you make the most of all the special sights and attractions.
There is a good range of activities and ideas from free walks, to harbour tours and both public and private museums.
While it's known as the windy city, in many ways it could also be seen as the cultural capital of the country, with many interesting literary monuments, art and theatre, as well as being the political centre of the nation.
It's divided into several general areas with many of the shops found in one section, the great "Welly" eateries in another, and the business and political centre in yet another.
However there is one part that connects all of these, as well as being a popular place for much of the area's accommodation, and that is along the waterfront.
This is where you'll find both Te Papa, the National Museum (which can quite easily take a full day of your time, whether you're travelling with children or adults) and the more local Maritime Museum which includes state of the art displays recording the history of the harbour and the people who've lived and worked around it.
If you want to spend some of your time in Wellington, New Zealand soaking up the atmosphere, taking an explorative walk down by the harbour is an excellent way to get in some exercise and find out more about the people in this city.
Take one of the guided paths, including the writer's walk, which takes you on a journey exploring some of the works of the country's well loved authors.
It's free, and happens to also take you close to some other great places to drop in on, including the the Brewery Bar, where you can sample some locally made beer.
If spending all that time near the water makes you want to get into it consider hiring out a kayak and getting out into the harbour.
It's a fun way to spend an afternoon, and gives you a completely different viewpoint of the city.
The locals often say there is nothing like their city on a good day and visitors easily agree.
Fit as much as you can into your time in Wellington, New Zealand, and you'll come away happy that you've sampled some of the very best the city has to offer.
