Does Alcohol Relieve Snoring?

Study shows that 35% of the global population snores in a regular basis. However, most of them are unaware of the fact that the main cause of snoring. Medical research conducted pertaining to sleep disorders which include snoring had been concluded that snoring increase due to obesity, vices such as alcohol and smoking. Which in the first place can increase the possibility of having a respiratory diseases and affects even during the pregnancy of a woman.

One of the highly contributor of snoring is alcohol consumption. Most of us find it relaxing and unwinding to drink during evening. We usually follow that modern way of finding a self relaxation. Perhaps, alcohol relaxes the brain and muscles. But, that not the case, we always drinks so much that causes our muscles to relax much more than intended. As results out throat, mouth, and jaw muscles loosen up and begin to collapse creating barriers to the free flow of the air.

Scientific research based on the effects of alcohol has pointed out nasal congestion. The tendency is you may have snore often during a night time. Other factors that aid snoring is smoking, which causes immense inflammation in the trachea, breathing passages and clogs up the lungs, leading to respiratory illness and snoring.

The best thing and commonly used in order to prevent snoring is to stop smoking and alcohol habit. Don't completely depart from it, just take it slowly if it seems far fetched. Try not to consume any alcoholic beverage at least 4-6 hours before you go to bed. The gap of 4 hours will help lessen the hard hitting effects of over relaxation of muscles as by then, alcohol's reaction starts wearing out.

Sometimes, people take sleep inducing medication, such as sleeping pills for a relaxed night's sleep or to cure insomnia, but it all aggravates snoring, due to loss of muscle tightening required for sound breathing patterns. Constant snoring through out the night can be a serious irritant to the bed partner while the sleep deprivation that sets in for both the snorer and the bed partner further complicates the relationship. There have been increasing cases of divorces based on messed up relationships that stem from sleep deprivation due to snoring.

Apart from the interpersonal relationship issues, sleep deprivation due to snoring also leads to health hazards for both. Serious diseases such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes and strokes are generally triggered due to stress and poor sleeping patterns. People over the age of 40 are more prone to these diseases and additional smoking and drinking can kick-start a fatal threat of snoring and related illnesses.

A lot of people ask me what happens to make them snore. Well, it isn't that hard to understand, but the reason might actually surprise you. The sounds are obviously produced in your throat, so you might actually focus on that area, but that's not the root cause. The reason that you snore is due to the position of your jaw. Typically when you sleep the jaw becomes unsupported and rests on the throat. When it rests on the throat it will create pressure and that is the whole problem.
