Reduce Your Chance of a Home Burglary by 69% With This One Easy Step

Having your home burglarized is one of the most traumatic things that could happen to you and your family.
Not only are your personal belongings taken from you, but your sense of safety and security are robbed from you as well.
But, what if there was one super simple step you can take to reduce your chance of being a victim by up to 69%? And the best news is this step will not cost you a lot of time or money.
It is estimated that 69% of home burglaries occur through forced entry through a window.
If you can keep your windows secure you can eliminate this method of entry and have the burglar going on to the next, easier, victim.
One Simple Step to Secure Your Windows Securing your windows does not have to be time consuming or expensive, in fact everything you need can be found at the local home improvement store, Home Depot, or Lowe's.
First - Measure The first thing you will need to do is measure your windows, in the direction they open.
Said another way, if your windows slide open by lifting them up - you will need to measure vertically.
If they slide open by pushing them side to side you will measure horizontally.
Take the width or length you measure, divide by two, and make a note of this size.
Next - Head to the Hardware Store Now that you have your measurements go to your local hardware or home improvement store and purchase lengths of 1/2 inch doweling.
Doweling is wooden rods that can be purchased and cut to size easily.
If you do not already have a simple saw, purchase one of those as well.
You do not need a heavy duty saw, the dowel cuts very easily.
Finally - Cut to Size and Inset The last step in the process is to cut your dowel into lengths that match the measurements you too above.
Once you have the sections cut to size, place them in the sliding tracks of your windows, either horizontally or vertically depending on how they open.
Test it Out With the dowel in place, try to open the window.
You can not, it will not budge.
You have essentially taken away the main point of entry for 69% of burglars out there.
I hope this simple step keeps your home safe and sound.
It really is not hard to install, and will not be noticed by guests.
The only people who will see that you have secured your windows is the next person who tries to break in!
