How to Grow Ranunculus From Seeds

    • 1). In early spring, fill a seed flat completely full of potting soil.

    • 2). Sprinkle seeds over the soil in the flats. Do not push down into the soil. Lightly water to moisten the soil. Use a spray bottle filled with water or a water mister, so as not to disturb the seeds.

    • 3). Cover the flat with plastic wrap. Place the flat in a cool place for about two to three weeks; a refrigerator or cool garage work well.

    • 4). After three weeks, set the flat in a shady area of your garden. Cover with a piece of glass. This helps to insulate the flat, creating a greenhouse effect. It will take up to three months for seedlings to appear.

    • 5). Transplant seedlings to a partially-shaded area in your garden. A sunny location works well if there is partial shade during the day. Lightly water the seedlings, just to dampen the ground.

    • 6). Mulch the seedlings in the spring to keep the soil cool. Water daily to keep moist, but do not over water.
