- 1). Use solid pieces of furniture to help conceal the surround-sound wires in the room. Install the system so that major wires run behind something such as a long bookcase or sofa, or a tall china cabinet. Paint any exposed surround-sound wires to match the wall or trim color for a camouflage effect.
- 2). Attach cable-management raceways to the wall or trim along the paths of the surround-sound wires. Install the system and run the wires first. Peel the backing off the raceway, place the exposed surround-sound wires into it and stick it to the wall or trim. Paint the raceway so it blends with the background.
- 3). Hide the surround-sound wires behind the molding and trim. Remove each section of molding and cut a notch along the back side that’s large enough to easily accommodate the wires. Line up the wire with the notch before nailing the trim back into place.
- 4). Slip the surround-sound wires underneath the room’s carpet or an area rug. Tuck it securely between the carpet pad and the carpet to prevent pinching. However, don’t run a power cord under carpeting.
