- 1). Clean the soldering iron tip by melting solder on it and wiping it off with the damp sponge. Clean it until it shines.
- 2). Touch the tip of the soldering iron to the connection to be soldered for a few seconds to heat it up. Make sure the iron touches both the connector pin and the circuit board trace.
- 3). Touch the solder wire to the heated connection and allow it to flow onto it. Do not touch the solder directly to the soldering iron itself.
- 4). Let the connection cool. Blow on it to cool it faster.
- 5). Clean any excess flux or residue from the solder joint with the non-metallic brush and solvent. Dry it with the rag.
