- 1). Remove the shower’s drain cover by taking out any screws securing it. Pry the drain cover out with the screwdriver and set it aside.
- 2). Pull out any debris sitting near the top of the drain, using needle-nose pliers. If the clog sits beyond the reach of the pliers’ jaws, fish it out using a wire hanger with a hook on the end.
- 3). Feed the plumbing snake down the shower’s drain, inserting the end with the metal corkscrew first. Push the flexible line down the drainpipe until you feel resistance, then turn the crank on the snake’s housing clockwise.
- 4). Turn the crank as you pull the snake back out of the drain. Use a rag to clean off debris from the end of the snake. Feed the snake back down the drain until the snake no longer contacts clogs in the drain line and water flows freely down the drain.
