- The free version of AVG Anti-Virus 9.0 offers anti-virus, anti-spyware, and LinkScanner, which ensures safe web page browsing. The paid version adds on to those features with Online Shield, which protects you during file exchanges, and advanced anti-rootkit protection. You also get "Game Mode," which keeps you safe while gaming, phishing protection and expert technical support. For users who require the highest level of security, the AVG Internet Security 9.0 version further adds AVG Identity Protection, an enhanced firewall and anti-spam capability.
- The executable file name for AVG Watchdog is "avgwdsvc.exe." If your computer runs Windows, you can find the running program by pressing the the three-key shortcut of "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Del" to open the task manager, and then by clicking the "Processes" tab. To turn it off, select the program and choose "End Process."
- Some users of AVG have reported issues with the program blocking or otherwise causing problems with desirable, non-malicious programs. If this is the case, ceasing "avgwdsvc.exe" in the task manager will only cause it to restart itself as a virus protection mechanism. You may have to uninstall it to disable it.
