Without a doubt, WordPress has transformed the blogging world in recent years.
What once required significant technical skills, blog creation is now nearly automatic and even Grandmas are jumping on the bandwagon! But, the default theme that comes with every WordPress installation will never inspire that "Wow" factor that every blog owner is seeking from their blog presence.
Fortunately, finding and installing brand new blog themes onto your WordPress installation could not be easier - and in many cases - totally free.
While there are numerous methods for installing new blog themes, the simplest tend to be the best.
And, the easiest way to transform your WordPress theme is to simply do it from within WordPress itself.
A standard WordPress installation contains a number of customization features covering font size, font colors, Plug-ins, and so on.
One of these customization features is called "Appearance" - or the place where you can manage your themes, among other settings.
You can find this by using your browser and going to the Admin section of your blog - SITE ADDRESS/wp-admin - and then logging-in.
Once inside, you'll need to navigate to "Appearance" --> "Add New Themes" --> "Find Themes".
This will take you to the area where you can browse, preview and install a wide variety of free WordPress themes.
The process is very straightforward; just scroll through the many pages of examples, click 'Preview' on the ones that strike your fancy, and click 'Install" to add the theme to your collection.
Okay, now that you have that terrific new theme added to your library, what do you do with it? Any new blog theme that you add must be activated before your viewing public will see it.
Again, this is super-easy to do from within your WordPress installation.
Let's go back to your admin area and click on 'Appearance' once again.
This time, you're going to want to select the 'Themes' menu item.
On the right-hand side of the screen, you'll see a listing of all the themes - including the default ones - that you've installed so far.
Simply scroll through all the examples until you find the one that you want to use and then click 'Activate' to make it your default blog theme.
That's it, you're done! You can view your new blog theme by clicking on "View Site" at the top of your screen.
There are many thousands of free WordPress blog themes floating around the Internet these days, just waiting for you to scoop them up! And, most of them are not necessarily available from within your WordPress installation.
However, the ones that ARE available should be enough for you to get a taste of what sort of 'Face-Lifts' can be done with WordPress with very little effort involved.
