- 1). Place your foot on the brake and put the vehicle in first gear by pulling the column shifter to its lowest position, then tilt the steering column down. Pull on the bezel that goes around the stereo and gauges to release the clips that hold it in place using your hands, and place it to the side.
- 2). Press down on the clips that hold the factory stereo to the dashboard and pull the stereo out of the dash. Then unplug the antenna and wiring harness from the back of the stereo using your hands.
- 3). Slide the cage that comes with the stereo into the vehicle-specific dash kit and lock it in place by pushing down the pins on the inside of the cage with the flathead screwdriver, locking the cage into the dash kit.
- 4). Place the wiring harness that comes with the stereo next to the vehicle-specific wiring harness. You'll notice that each harness is color coded with the same marks and codes. This is to make installation easier. Strip 1/2-inch off the end of each wire on each harness, and crimp a blue butt connector using the wire crimpers to the end of each wire on the vehicle-specific harness.
- 5). Match the wire color on the vehicle-specific wiring harness to the corresponding color on the stereo harness, and join them together by crimping the stereo harness wire into the blue butt connector of the wire on the vehicle specific harness using the crimpers. Repeat this for each wire in the harness.
- 6). Plug the vehicle-specific end of the harness into the dashboard harness and run it through the center of the cage of the dash kit. Then push the dash kit into the dashboard until it clicks in place. Plug the GM antenna adaptor onto the end of the stock antenna wire, then plug the harness and the antenna lead into the back of the stereo and push the stereo into the cage until it clicks into place.
- 7). Reassemble the rest of the dashboard in the reverse order of disassembly.
