- 1). Open an original photo of a person in Adobe Photoshop.
- 2). Right click the background layer. Select "Duplicate Layer." Click the lock icon to lock the background layer. Always avoid working on the original image in Photoshop. This way you can return to the source if you mess up or wish to start over.
- 3). Select the contrast preset above the Layer panel. Increase the contrast to give the photo a more stark look. Lower the brightness to make the image darker and more ominous. Return to the presets panel.
- 4). Select the hue/saturation preset. Change the saturation to make the skin look more bloodless. Return to the presets panel.
- 5). Select the burn tool. Burn around the figures eyes and mouth to make the skin start to look rotten and undead. Burn the clothing to make the figure look unkempt and unnatural.
- 6). Create a new fill layer. Choose a blue tone as the fill. Lower the opacity to 20 percent. Lower the saturation again, but for this new layer. Raise the contrast once more.
- 7). Create another layer. Change the layer mode from normal to multiply. Choose the polygonal lasso tool. Click around the figures mouth and eyes to create blood spots coming from them. Do this also with the hands and arms if you want the zombie to be really bloody. Lower the opacity to about 80 percent. Fill in the polygonal shapes with a red hue. Right click on this layer and duplicate it. Change this layer's mode from multiple to blend.
- 8). Create another layer. Draw in blue or black veins around the eyes, mouth, hands, arms, and any other skin that appears. This adds to the rotten look of the zombie.
