Located in Fife area of Scotland you will find Dunfermline.
A larger town that is up on high ground and very close by you will find the Firth of Forth that you will reach Edinburgh.
The location of Dunfermline is actually the second largest in all of Fife.
Once it was also the location of the capital and where the Royal Court would be held.
Many of the monarchs are buried in what was once the abbey.
Now it's a parish church instead.
But buried there you will find Robert I, and Saint Margaret.
Also the place of birth for Charles I, making it a beloved location for many to visit.
Modern times saw the birth and raising of Andrew Carnegie who is a very famous businessman and industrialist.
But again this location is also one that has been around for quite a long time.
Thus it offers a wide variety of things to do and see most of them are dealing with a wonderful past history.
Established back during the middle of the eleventh century by Malcolm III, it was a location that was made for a seat to royal power.
His second wife talked him into establishing an Abbey in the area that was eventually replaced by a church.
Still on the south part of High Street you will find what is left of the Dunfermline Abbey.
It's a great example of what Scoto-Norman architecture was like during those days.
There is only a bit left of the original building, but the rest of it was actually built back in 1818 to 1821.
Close by you can find the Abbots house that is actually one of the oldest in the location.
Some of it has been dated back to 1450.
Located in this building now you can find a heritage center that you can learn even more about this area by visiting.
While heading to Moodie Street will allow you to see the place where Andrew Carnegie was born.
Still that isn't all the historic buildings and locations that you will find in this area.
Close to the west of the town you will even be able to see Pitfirrane Castle.
There is now a golf course that was build there!
