Trekking in Heavenly Kashmir!

If you're a trekker and want to scale the Himalayan hills in Kashmir, then this article provides you a brief detail about the major trekking trails in the Valley. Have a look!

Jammu Kashmir, situated amidst lofty Himalayan peaks, is a great place to visit for adventure-lovers. It boasts a variety of adventure sports including white water rafting, trekking, camping and various winter sports to give adrenalines a requisite rush. But trekking is something which is highly popular in the state. It can be enjoyed in most of the Kashmir region and is a great opportunity to take a closer look at the heavenly natural beauty this territory is famous for.

Here're some popular trekking sites in Kashmir.

Amarnath Yatra: the famous pilgrimage for Hindus, it takes the revelers to the sacred cave of Amarnath. It is famed for its spiritual essence, though the journey can give a lifetime experience to the trekkers & natural lovers too. The trekking begins from Pahalgam and passes through splendid facets of nature including lakes, valleys, glaciers and snow-capped peaks. The first major stop on the journey is Chandanwari and then comes the fabulous lake of Sheshnag. One reaches to the holy Cave of Amarnath on 3rd or 4th day, depending upon his physical ability.

Gulmarg: this area turns into a snowy heaven in winters, but a paradise for trekkers in summer months. In the north of Gulmarg is Pir Panjal Range, where trekking is a treat for eyes & senses. The fascinating views of Nanga Parbat, lush green forests and stunning waterfalls & streams can be seen en route. A trek to the south of Gulmarg will take you to the Ferozpur Nala and scintillating hamlets of Danwas and Tejjain. The route to this area is quite puzzling. So you better hire a local guide while trekking to this side. You can return back by the way of Khag and Rivar or can continue to head towards the Suntek Peak.

Sonamarg-Tajiwas: this short, yet popular trekking route allures a large number of trekkers during summer months. It is just 4km long but full of thrills and joys. The route passes through splendid valleys & mountain streams and alpine meadows. Serenity & greenery is omnipresent. If you're daring enough to climb the steep slopes of Shakhdar Hill, you will get a chance to see the picturesque Tajiwas Glacier.

Zanskar Valley: Perhaps the best trekking site anywhere in India is the Zanskar Valley of Leh Ladakh. Trekkers get to explore the unspoiled beauty of nature in form of snow-clad hills, fascinating lakes & glaciers and heart-winning viewpoints. It is in fact a dream comes true for adrenaline junkies.

Nichinai Pass-Gangabal Lake: it is also one of the finest treks in Kashmir Valley. To enjoy it to the fullest, hire a local guide to accompany you. The trekking begins from the Shitkari village: about2km down valley from Sonamang towards Srinagar. For there, you can start trekking along the Krishan Shar Lake and can move-on to the Gangabal Lake near Haramukh.

Apart from that, there are many trekking sites near Srinagar, Leh and Pahalgam. You can plan your trip with a reputed travel agent to enjoy it as hassle-free.
