Stinson Aircraft Company was founded in 1920 and became a part of the general aviation industry. Its headquarters is located at Dayton Ohio and it was founded by Eddie Stinson. Stinson then focused his business ventures on Detroit Michigan just after five years of the company's operation. He has chosen Detroit because he found that its business community was receptive to his plans. He was able to open his new site in 1925 located in southwest of Detroit. Presently it is now the location of the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne Country Airport. Its SM-1 Detroiter took its first flight in January 25, 18926. This unit was accepted by the public positively and it became an overnight success. Through this he was able to incorporate Stinson Aircraft Corporation.

The different aircraft that was created by the company includes the Stinson SB-1 Detroiter which first flew on January 25, 1926. Another was the Stinson SM-1 Detroiter that was selected by Ruth Elder and Elsie Mackay. There is also the SM-2 Junior with 321 total of units built when it was in active production. There are many different variants that was designed and created by this company that have been positively accepted by the people.

Another one is the Stinson SR Reliant which was actively manufactured from 1933 until 1941. There is also the Model 105 voyager/L-5 Sentinel that can carry 3 passengers. Next was the AT-19/V-77 Reliant that was used by the US Army. And lastly the Stinson 108 which was created in posts World War II.
