- 1). Call the Arizona Department of Housing at 602-771-1000 to ask if there are currently any available housing vouchers. Openings are announced in the local newspapers as well, but the amount of vouchers is very limited, so you must apply immediately.
- 2). Call 866-890-0177 to ask for an application for a housing voucher if there is an opening. An application will be mailed to you; it's the only way to get one. You must meet strict financial criteria, based on household size, to be approved.
- 3). Fill out the application and mail it back by the due date. Missing this date will get your application discarded. It asks for such things as your age, whether you're employed or actively looking for work, if you're disabled, were ever in the military or if you've been the victim of abuse. Preferential treatment is given to those in these situations.
- 4). Apply directly at an Arizona Department of Housing apartment complex if you're interested in applying for the Project-Based Rental Assistance. Applications are available on site.
