A hammocks lot is a happy one
If you are wondering why the hammock and pack, well it's simple really. I have an aversion to all things bright and luxurious. Whether it be five star resort hotels in Pattaya or 6 star hotels in Singapore.-I hate em all. You have probably heard the old song "wherever I lay my hat that's my home" in my case it's "wherever I string up my hammock, that's my hotel". Hotel accommodation just doesn't cut it for me. All that service, room service and hotel dining; telling when you can eat and when you can't, they try to restrict you. Plus giving you advice on what you should do and what you shouldn't do or can't do, there's no freedom as far as I can see.
No the real accommodation lies swinging between two palm trees on a beach somewhere beautiful like in Patong, Phuket for example. Living mother nature's sea breeze and cool air, whilst listening to the rhythmic sounds of waves, sea and shore. There's a picture of me in my mind's eye that is a distant sunset with a silhouette image of me in the foreground. The palm trees to which I am attached to, represent my budget home. The hammock and strings represent the budget accommodation that gently sways in unison with the slight sea winds. Whilst the sound of the waves breaking over the shore seem to ride in rhythm with the creeking sounds of my hammock accommodation. A combination of these natural elements is enough to help any fulltime insomniac on their way to the land of nod. No annoying hotel air-conditioners to mess with, no hotel windows to open. The budget hammock accommodation allows for everything and demands nothing.
A typical day in the life of a hammock accommodation guest would go something like this.
A Patong Night
As the sun sets gently onto a pink tinged sky, I wait for darkness to fall and moon to come. If moon comes this night, then I can see the wondrous natures that god hath bring. If not, I can enjoy a dark so pitch and yet clear, where I can imagine the creatures that lay below and so near. As I, you see, need not fear the sounds of nature that bode so near, for I dwell above the ground away from all, and gently sway from dusk till dawn.
When morning comes I clamber down, from this my budget linen is all but found between two palms of steadfast trees. A stroll down to my great bath of blue azure, the sandy squeak, the sound of sea, a wondrous cure; is found in a swim, a bath and then some fish which is all that is needed for this day. Yet-as the day winds down once more, I yearn again for rest and sleep, to sway again till morning comes.
Patong Accommodation
Of course, hammock accommodation life is not for everybody, some may try this for a while and realize that perhaps a good hotel might be more comfortable than this type of budget accommodation. Finding nice accommodation in places like Patong is easy, but if you must stay anywhere, choose a resort that has a few palm trees in the gardens. You might find me taking a secret afternoon nap between them, or you might even want to try the hammock budget service yourself.
