Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for November 23, 2009

< Continued from page 2
But wait, Greg comes to the rescue because he and Rachel show up just as Dr. Nance is telling Bo and Nora to give Matthew the news that he can live a full life in a wheelchair. And oh wait, Matthew just happens to still be on the operating table cut open. Wow, it’s a good thing that flight from Llanview to Seattle only took ten minutes because Greg gets the opportunity to ask Dr. Nance if he can go to the operating room and “take a look” and Praise the Lord, Greg saves the day and successfully completes the surgery.

All of a sudden Greg is a hero again. Ugh! I’m glad for Matthew and his parents who have finally made peace.

I have to say that after all the excitement that went on this week on the show, I was nothing short of bored and disinterested to watch Blair and Todd do their on again off again mating dance. Todd has his heart set on going to Seattle to find Tea and what she’s hiding and Blair once again tries to stop him. It doesn’t take much to convince Todd, just a woman ready to fall into bed with him, which he almost does with Blair until she finally realizes that he would be thinking about Tea. I was surprised that stopped her. But it did and she sent him off to head for Seattle. Then she blurted out to Dorian that she still loves Todd Manning. OMG! I’m sick of you Blair! Ten minutes later (quick flight across the country), Todd shows up at the hospital in Seattle and heads for Matthew’s room. Rachel tries to keep him out because she knows Dani is in there with Matthew and Tea would die if Todd met his daughter that way.

Too bad Tea. Dani finally comes out of the room when she hears them arguing and has some nasty words with Todd. Although Rachel tries to head Todd off, he persists in hanging around and asks enough leading questions of Dani until he finds out that she is Tea’s daughter and then he starts doing the math. Dani tells him that Ross is her father, but we know that’s not the end of this nightmare.

Back at the hotel, Tea wants to pack up and leave town to relocate Dani, but Ross has other ideas and shows up in her room. He gets a little heavy handed and he isn’t about to take anything from Tea other than the location of his daughter. He presses her to the point where she finally gives up the fight and admits that Dani is not his daughter and that she is Todd’s. Ross doesn’t want to believe her but she shows him the DNA test. Ross and Tea get into a very heated confrontation and it gets pretty violent when Ross demands to see his daughter and claims he will take her away.

The laugh of the week for me came after Charlie tried to strangle Mitch and then vowed to kill him and Mitch said to John, “Arrest that man, he threatened to kill me!” The funniest part (maybe the scariest part) is that Mitch truly believes he can get away with anything and so far, he has. So far John and Charlie have tried to kill him, Viki has slapped his face and Mitch is oblivious to any wrongdoing on his part. We’re in for quite a ride with this maniac this time around. Buckle up! And hey, since Mitch knows so much about every detail of everyone’s lives, maybe he knows where Ben is. It certainly is not fair that Mitch can rise from the grave and Ben has to stay “dead.” Just thought I’d mention that since I think about Ben every time someone comes back from the grave. Hey, November sweeps means surprises, right? I guess I have to be content with Bo and Nora heading back together, Jess and Brody being a nice couple and John and Natalie back in each other’s orbit. Can’t have everything!

See ya next week.

FAN FEEDBACK AND QUESTIONS

NoraandBoMagic writes: “I just finished watching the scenes of Bo and Nora dancing in the hotel room and I have to say that it was probably one of the most romantic scenes that I have EVER seen. I liked how as soon as Bo asked her, he got a little shy. And I don't think it was possible for either of them to be glowing any more then they were when they were dancing in each other's arms. They just looked like they were right at home there. The part that really got me was when he buried his face in her neck and then she grabbed him and it turned into a hug. Then of course there was the kiss. YOWZA! Now THAT is what REAL chemistry is all about. They were just magic.”

Dear NoraandBoMagic: Yep, I couldn’t agree with you more. I love seeing Bo and Nora back together and the dancing scene was too, too adorable. Bo has that impish look on his face that I just love. For me, Robert S. Woods never ages; he’s one of those men whose appeal never wanes. He’ll always have that boyish charm and his chemistry with Hillary B. Smith is always evident even when Bo and Nora are at odds.

Alison writes: “I had to thank you for the many laughs you brought me as I read about the ten minute traveling between places like Michigan, California and Llanview, not to mention those quickie trips to and from London and then clear across the country to Seattle! Everyone was traveling this week and in record time! I have watched and loved soaps for over 40 years but as the years go by these necessary suspensions in disbelief become more frequent! I am also happy about Bo and Nora; they definitely rank as one of my all-time favorite OLTL couples. They have great chemistry and the talk between them is always entertaining and believable. Unfortunately, I've been rather upset with the characters due to their fighting Matthew on the surgery and then tricking him when they didn't win.”

Dear Alison: I totally agree that we had to suspend out disbelief more than ever when it came to the air travel this week. It was kind of ridiculous. I also had a lot of problems with the way Bo and Nora handled Matthew, but I was happy to see them all make peace; to see Matthew feel remorse for taking them to court and to see Bo and Nora tell him how much they love him and did everything out of that love. Yes, they went too far, but they were terrified for Matthew’s life and who is to say what they would do in that circumstance. I’m glad that mess is finally settled
