A Letter to an Eve Teaser

Dear Mr.
Eve Teaser, I do hope you do not mind my term of endearment.
Since you so brazenly touched and felt me in a crowded bus yesterday, I assumed you would give me the right to call you dear under such circumstances Mr.
Eve Teaser I would like to take this opportunity to bring to your notice some things you seem to have overlooked in your self-centered world of enjoyment.
Every time you touch me in such an inappropriate way I want to tell you that I have my share of attention from people who matter and I don't need it from a complete stranger like you.
When you yanked up my shirt yesterday just as I was getting down from the bus, I was so upset and angry my initial thought was to turn around and slap you.
I stopped short because reasoning took over and I knew you would shamelessly deny touching me and would humiliate me further.
My second thought was that of my daughter back home waiting for me and that made me sad.
I know she will grow up one day and be out on her own, and that day she too would have to face an incorrigible man like you who would get a thrill out of touching her.
It may sound like a real old age adage, but I do want to know, how do you face your female relatives when you head back home? You might have a mother or a sister who stay with you and it is also possible that you have a wife.
What thrill does it give you to brush your arm against my back side or to stand a little too close for comfort? Does passing lewd comments make you feel more powerful? Your panting in my ear makes me want to shout out for help and out of frustration I realize it would be futile to even try.
You see that is the irony of our society.
Everyone is concerned about their daughters and sisters, but if a girl outside draws attention for help people tend to look away.
There was this time when you followed me back home from my evening music classes.
You waited for me around the corner and followed me for a whole week.
Then one day I took a decision for my own safety and gave up on those classes.
A confrontation with you is not an option sir.
It is not an advice I would give to my own daughter either.
For reasons unknown you are a narcissistic creature who thinks of himself as invincible in his own right.
No one can resist your charisma and if we oppose your actions your ego will flare up and strike back at us in a manner we would rather not experience.
Your actions do not scare me as much as they antagonize me.
My own inertia at that moment is what makes me antsy later at night.
I do hope sir, a day will come when there will be such stringent legal rights for women in this country that you will find ways to defend your actions and you will then find none.
Till then Mr.
Eve Teaser I hope I don't have an encounter with you ever again because all the angst I feel leaves me incapable of moving around normally for a long time.
With hope and prayers, A victim of your debauchery
