- 1). Power off your iPod mini and insert the tip of your small Phillips screwdriver in the seam along the side of the plastic panel on the top of the iPod.
- 2). Pry up with your screwdriver to pop the panel off and expose two screws underneath. Remove these screws. Repeat the process with the panel on the bottom of the iPod.
- 3). Insert the tip of your screwdriver in the bottom of the iPod and pop all four clips on the interior metal panel to remove it from the iPod.
- 4). Use the tip of your screwdriver to pop the small ribbon cable near the bottom of the iPod out of its port.
- 5). Insert your screwdriver in the bottom of the iPod and push up to push the screen and internal components out through the top of the iPod body.
- 6). Locate the blue battery connected to the green circuit board. Lift it up to expose the battery ribbon cable and unplug the ribbon cable from its port on the board. Set the battery aside.
- 7). Plug the cable on your new battery into the port on the board and fit the battery over the board. Slide the components back in the iPod body and reverse the process for reassembly.
