The Characteristics of a Bully & Cyber-Bully

There are certain characteristics of a bully or Cyber-Bully that a parent should be aware of.
If your child possess a number of these traits it certainly does not mean that they are definitely a bully but they are in a "high risk" group that may need counseling.
Let me list the primary characteristics of bullies or Cyber-Bullies: *The individual is apt to lose his or her temper easily.
They are quite impulsive and tend to get frustrated at minor events.
*They tend to disobey rules that are set up by authority figures.
They would prefer to set their own rules.
They are defiant.
*When they witness other children who are being victimized by a bully they show little concern for the victim.
*They seem to like violence.
They look at violence in a positive and entertaining manner even when it is inappropriate behavior.
*The boy or girl might exhibit some aggressive behavior when interacting with adults, parents and/or teachers.
*They have a tendency to want to dominate those around him.
He or she want to be in control and take charge.
*The bully is very good at talking their way out of trouble.
If they are caught they can be and will be very persuasive when confronted.
*They seem to really enjoy humiliating other children.
They engage in a lot of ridiculing and teasing of others thinking it is quite amusing.
*He or she usually exhibits a very self-assuring attitude.
They are overly confident and have an extreme high self esteem.
They are boastful.
*Bullies can certainly be tall or short, strong or weak and/or boy or girl.
There is no set physical or sexual characteristic that would say for certain that they could or could not be a bully.
Bullies or Cyber-Bullies need as much immediate attention as a victim of bullying does.
They should be seen immediately by a child mental health specialist to help the child.
Individuals who were bullies in school are shown to be at a much higher risk than their peers to wind up with a criminal conviction.
Bullies are likely to also engage in other inappropriate behaviors such as fighting, vandalism, school truancy, stealing, smoking, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and dropping out of school.
So as you can see, it does not matter which side of the ordeal your son or daughter is on, be it the bully or the bullied, immediate attention must be made by the parent to assure proper care of the situation is achieved.
