Biceps curls are among the favorite of many fitness enthusiasts who desire to build biceps muscle. This is a very basic arm exercise, very easy to understand and perform. Though you can perform it with dumbbells or a barbell, exercise bands can be as much effective as free weights.
Indeed exercise bands are resistance tubes, and this is resistance that triggers the muscle growth. When a weight is challenging your muscles, the tissues tear a little bit, and your body respond by repairing these tissues and making them stronger for next time they are challenged. With exercise bands you don't lift weight but deal with tension, which still challenges your muscles.
Tension can bevery light as well as very heavy, but only you will know what will be challenging enough for your biceps. So here's how you perform biceps curls with exercise bands in two easy steps.
1. Grab your band by the handles and step on it, with one foot or two feet for more tension.
2. Simply execute a biceps curl.
Done, not that hard. You can of course perform this exercise with two arms, or alternating right and left arm as well as only performing your biceps curl set on one arm and then the other.
Always use proper form and stay in control in the negative part of the movement (when you get back to the starting position). Resistance feels different with exercise bands but you will enjoy the benefits of using these.
You can carry them anywhere you want and have a great workout anywhere, plus they're inexpensive. Biceps curls is just one exercise you can do to build biceps muscle, but there are more. Now remember this is a muscle building exercise, not a fat burning one. If you are looking for a better definition of your muscles you still need to burn the fat covering your muscles.
