- 1). Wearing appropriate gloves, use lab approved soap, warm water and a lab brush to clean the glassware in a sink. Scrub entire surface of glassware. Rinse well.
- 2). Thoroughly rinse glassware with DI water or water of similar purity.
- 3). Insert glassware into lab oven. Make sure glassware is of a material that can handle high temperatures. Bake glassware for at least two hours at high temperature (at least 200 Celsius). Higher temperatures and longer bake times more effectively remove a wider range of contaminants from the glass.
- 4). Allow glass to cool before removing it from oven. Hot glass may shatter if placed on a cool surface.
