"The Hunting Party" Recap

Hurley Classic Scenario

Hurley and Charlie look through some records. Hurley says that he thinks Libby is cute and thinks he has a chance with her.
"I mean, it's the classic deserted island scenario," Hurley says. "If I ever had a shot, this is it."

"Do you think Claire's missed me yet?" Charlie asks.

Hurley says, "Dude, it's been a day."

Sayid comes in and says the music is depressing. Hurley offers to change it.

Sayid asks where Jack and Locke are and Hurley says that they went to find Michael, along with Sawyer and Kate.

Friendly Fire

Jack, Sawyer, Locke, and Mr. Friendly sit around a fire. Locke asks how Mr. Friendly knows their names. Mr. Friendly just smiles. Jack says, "You took Walt."
"Walt's fine," he says. "He's a very special boy."

Mr. Friendly asks how long they've been on the island and Jack says 50 days.

Mr. Friendly says, "That's what, almost 2 whole months, huh? Tell me, you go over to a man's house for the first time, do you take off your shoes? Do you put your feet up on his coffee table? Do you walk in the kitchen, eat food that doesn't belong to you? Open the door to rooms you got no business opening? You know, somebody a whole lot smarter than anybody here once said, 'Since the dawn of our species man's been blessed with curiosity.' You know the other one about curiosity don't you, Jack? This is not your island. This is our island. And the only reason you're living on it is because we let you live on it."

Jack smiles and says he doesn't believe him. He thinks he's got one guy with a gun, hiding in the jungle. "I think if you had any real strength, you wouldn't have had to send a spy, Ethan."

"That's an interesting theory," Mr. Friendly says. He raises his arms.
"Light 'em up!" Mr. Friendly yells.

More than a dozen torches light up in a circle around the clearing. Mr. Friendly tells Jack that right here is the line and they are not to cross it. "Now give me your weapons, turn around, and go home."

"No!" Jack says.

Locke says, "Jack maybe-" But Jack shouts no again.

Mr. Friendly says, "I hoped it wouldn't come to this. Bring her out, Alex!" Kate comes out. She is bound. Mr. Friendly pulls the bag off her head. Jack looks angry and Sawyer makes a move toward them, but Mr. Friendly draws a gun and puts it to Kate's neck.

Jack throws down his weapon and Sawyer and Locke follow suit. Mr. Friendly asks for Locke's other gun, which he pulls from his pocket and adds to the pile.

"You and me ain't done, Zeke," Sawyer says.

Mr. Friendly grabs the guns and pushes Kate toward Sawyer. The torches go out simultaneously and Mr. Friendly walks away. Sawyer hugs Kate, then unties her.

Kate starts to apologize to Jack, but he just asks if she's okay and when she says yes, walks away.

Being Told What To Do

Jin softly says to Sun, "Honey, I don't like being told what to do."
"Being told what to do was my life for four years. I didn't like it much either."

"Right," he says. "I don't suppose you did." He moves closer and puts his arm around her.

Kate, Jack, Sawyer, and Locke return to camp and Kate says to Jack, "I was just trying to help. When you told me not to go, I just made a mistake. Could you just talk to me for a second? I'm sorry."

"Yeah," Jack says sarcastically, "I'm sorry too."
