Most women are totally into shopping for clothes. There's hardly a female out there who would refuse a good excuse to pick up a new dress. However, there are those who are quite self-conscious and are not too keen to try out different clothes. It's especially the case when the woman is conscious of her figure. They lament over the reality that their body types don't suit a lot of styles. One very common example is when they're looking for a dress for a special occasion like the prom. It's only natural that you'd want to look awesome. But how can you end up with the most appropriate dress for your body type?
Well, the most practical thing to do first is to understand women's body types. This will help you classify your own body type and make it easier for you to hunt for the right dress. Generally, there are six classifications: pear-shaped, slender, petite, hourglass, busty, and apple. Someone who's pear-shaped usually sports generous curves and is quite bottom-heavy. Slender-framed females have less curves with long torsos. Someone who barely reaches five feet or a little over that belongs to the petite class. As for women with hourglass figures, this is indeed a blessing since they have properly proportioned figures.
The next two categories are perhaps the most frustrating. The busty type is someone who is really top-heavy. But if you're apple-shaped, you are likely to have broad shoulders, slim hips, and a thick waistline. So let's now proceed with picking out the most suitable dress to wear to our prom night! For pear-shaped gals, go with gowns that have fitted tops and loose, flowing skirts. This kind of design will help soften those exaggerated curves at the bottom. But if you belong to the slender group, choose gowns with ruffled bodices and layered skirts.
Now if you're of the petite type, your have to do something to give you a height boost. One of your best bets would be cocktail dress with asymmetrical hemlines or mullet skirts. Next up is the hourglass-shaped female. You're such a lucky girl if you have one since almost anything can fit you. So experiment and let your fashion sense go wild! We move one to the busty babe. Try to stay away from frocks with dipping necklines. Try to pick halter-cut gowns with wide skirts. This is so the focus won't be on your bust area. Lastly, for the apple-shaped female, go for gowns with empire waists and flowing skirts.
