What Not to Do When Your Self-Esteem Fades

There are times when you feel so terrible about not doing certain things that you feel defeated and worn down.
When this occurs, you can berate yourself.
When such times occur, it is important to have a list of things that you shouldn't do when you feel bad about yourself for whatever reason.
Here are a few tips that you could follow.
1.
Don't compare yourself to other kids.
This is a hard habit to break.
You live in a culture that teaches you to compare everyone and everything.
Parents compare their children.
Teachers compare their students.
Remember that you're one of a kind.
So, comparisons are empty wastes of time.
2.
Don't worry so much about what other kids think of you.
Most of you feel anxious about meeting new people.
Most of you constantly wonder what will others will think of you.
But worrying makes you even more anxious.
It can also make you feel powerless, self-conscious, and shamed.
You should change this negative thinking to more positive ways.
3.
Don't set unreachable goals for yourself.
There is nothing more frustrating than when you do this.
If you try and fail over and over, rethink your goals.
Pretend you're a high-jumper.
If you can't jump high, lower the bar.
And remember, tomorrow is another day.
So, give yourself a break and try again.
4.
Don't blame yourself when things go wrong in your life.
Don't accept any blame that others try to put on you, even if they are adults.
Blame is NOT the same as responsibility.
Blame is negative.
Responsibility is positive.
Blame creates negative feelings whereas responsibility creates positive feelings.
So, the next time your self-esteem fades, try to make sure that you avoid making yourself feel worse.
Instead, celebrate yourself as much as possible, and try to do better the next day.
That will work wonders for your self-esteem.
