Activate XP using the Internet or Modem

Alternatively, you can also click on the icon for "Windows Activation," located in the notification area of the taskbar (the steps for activating via internet and modem are the same).

    • 2). Select the "Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now" option, then read the activation privacy statement. Press "Back," then "Next" to continue.

    • 3). Choose between your activation options. These will be "Activation and registration" or just "Activation" (note that registration is not required). Click "Next" once you've chosen your option. If you selected the "Activation and registration" option, enter your contact information into the appropriate fields on the next page, then press "Next." Your copy of Windows XP Media Center will now be activated.
