Men love just as a woman does. But a man does not love the same way a woman does. That can be a problem if you don't understand the difference.

Men love by respect. They receive being respected as a man as being loved by the person who is giving them respect. Conversely if a man feels he is being disrespected he will feel unloved.

I don't want to burst the bubble of the women who read this article. But when you do the " I love you honey" things to a man he may appreciate it. But he doesn't have that warm fuzzy feeling inside because his best girl bought him a pair of slippers. He may be appreciative but not caught up in the emotional response you may be looking for.

Let me offer a few ways to say I love you to a man;

1) Ask for his opinion - a man loves to share his insight and his knowledge. When you ask him what he thinks it shows a respect for his knowledge. I know at times men can appear to be know it all but men love feeling like what they have to share on a subject is important.

2) Listen to what he says - a man wants to be heard. When he gives advice that is not listened, it is more than just an offense to him; it is a rejection. He wants to know that what he has to say is important enough to be followed.

3) Follow what he says - when a man gives advice he feels respected when it is followed. The greatest compliment you can give a man is to do what he says. For a woman, following some of the small things he may ask for can go a long way in solidifying your position in his heart.

4) Never, ever embarrass him - this is the sure fire way to lose a man; embarrass him. Belittle him. Make him feel like his is less than a man. Even when he may be wrong, correct him with honor. The more you fight a man to prove he is wrong, the more he will fight to prove you made a mistake fighting with him.

Respect is finding honor where it is due. Throughout history men have fought for honor and died in the name of it. Love him by respecting him for the man he is and the one he is striving daily to become.
