How to Replace Blinker Bulbs in a 2005 GMC Canyon

    Front-Blinker Bulbs

    • 1). Turn your Canyon's engine off. Remove the key. Open the hood and examine the the lighting case next to the headlight. This lighting case is on the outward part of the fender. It holds your blinker bulb.

    • 2). Find the plastic clip on the back part of the lighting case. Push this clip outward and pull the outbound edge of the lighting case forward. Then pull the inbound edge forward to remove the entire case.

    • 3). Turn the blinker bulb counterclockwise to release it from the lighting case. Pull the bad bulb from the socket, and then insert the new bulb. Wear gloves when installing the new bulb.

    • 4). Push the new bulb back into the case. Turn it clockwise. Re-insert the lighting case. Start with the inbound edge, and then push the outbound edge in. Push the case firmly to snap the clip into place.

    Rear-Blinker Bulbs

    • 1). Open and lower the tailgate. Locate the two lighting case screws on the side of the lighting case. Remove them with a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 2). Pull the lighting case out. Locate the rear-blinker bulb on the back part of the case. The blinker bulb is the middle bulb. Turn it counterclockwise and pull it out.

    • 3). Pull the old bulb out of the socket. Insert the new bulb into the socket while wearing gloves. Insert the socket and new bulb back into the case. Turn it clockwise.

    • 4). Push the rear-lighting case back into the corner of the bed. Tighten the two Phillips screws to secure the rear-lighting case.
