Diverticulitis Diet A person will be placed on the Diverticulitis Diet if the pockets found within the walls of the intestine become inflamed or infected.
This particular diet is designed to help reduce the amount of bowel movements a person has when the problem occurs so it gives time for the body to heal.
With this particular diet one is expected to eat far less fiber than would normally be considered to be appropriate.
Generally a person in good health should be aiming to eat around 60 grams of fiber each day but a person on this diet will be required to only eat around 10 grams instead.
There are certain foods which one will be expected to include in their diet if having to treat this particular medical condition.
Foods such as enriched but refined white breads, bagels and buns.
Also they should be eating lots of plain cereals such as cornflakes and cheerios.
They need to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables either in whole raw form or in juice form.
They can still eat meats as their bodies will require protein but it should be well cooked.
Also fish and eggs are perfectly adequate as well to be included into the meals on this diet.
As time progresses and a person begins to feel the symptoms of an attack of this medical condition beginning to subside they can then start to make gradual diets to it.
They can start to increase their intake of fiber until their normal levels are resumed as this will further help to prevent other attacks of the condition taking place.
