Eczema is a fairly common condition noticeable in young children.
Sadly this bacterial skin infection causes a lot of trouble for the little things.
The common signs of eczema in children are skin reddening and irritation.
The physicians maintain that those children who have got a background of allergies, hay fever or asthma in the family are more susceptible to eczema.
Since the children have more sensitive skin one should immediately see the doctor.
There are basically two types of eczema in children, namely contact and atopic eczema.
New born infants succumb to atopic eczema very easily and the disease occurs soon after birth.
In most cases the children grow out of it with time, but there some are who have to suffer from this dreadful disease throughout their lives.
It is also an established fact that those with a family record of atopic eczema are far more prone to contact eczema.
The second form of eczema, or contact eczema is more prevalent among older children.
It is so named because it is caused due to the skin's contact or exposure to certain chemicals or irritants that may be contained in powders, soaps or colognes.
Contact eczema in children can be easily brought under control.
By making them avoid contact with the responsible irritant, children can be saved from the spread of eczema and also put a stop to its recurrence.
Another form of eczema in children is xerotic eczema that occurs in small children and infants from absence of biotin.
Sometimes exposure to dust and other factors also causes eczema in children.
The factors that are responsible for causing eczema in adults also affect children.
It can either be hereditary in nature or brought about by bacterial attack and low immunity.
The eczema symptoms are especially pronounced in children.
Visible skin rashes, patches of red skin, a burning pricking sensation, raw blisters, skin peeling and layering and over all discoloration are the most common symptoms when children suffer from eczema.
Children can be affected by eczema on their face, cheeks, forearms, knees, and even scalp.
Eczema can be a painful condition and therefore traumatize the young sufferers even more than the adult ones.
So immediate consultation as well as medication should be arranged.
There are oral medicines, creams and lotions that treat the skin disease.
Don't panic in case of eczema in children.
Take the child to a doctor who gives oral drugs and meditations that make the disease less severe.
Children must be kept back from itching themselves on the eczema affected area.
