- 1). Submerge the brush in a lighter tone of paint than the sky you've painted, and then lay it onto an area of the sky where you want the clouds, which will soften the area.
- 2). Darken the tone a little bit in the sky above the clouds.
- 3). Use a soft cloth to blot out some of the color where you want the clouds, which will remove color and create a white space with soft edges for painting the details of the clouds.
- 4). Use a thin brush dipped in some light or medium gray tones of paint, and add definition, shadows and shape to the clouds to bring out their dimensions.
