Causes of Body Joint Pain

    Gout

    • Pain in the joints in your lower body that is accompanied by swelling and alternates between flare ups and reduced or no symptoms may be caused by gout.

    Osteoarthritis

    • If your joint pain is concentrated in areas such as your wrists, spine or hips and is accompanied by swelling, it may be caused by osteoarthritis.

    Bursitis

    • Bursitis is the inflammation of fluid around your joints, and can cause joint pain especially around the joints of your shoulders, elbows and knees.

    Bone Cancer

    • Cancer that spreads throughout your bones may cause you to have pain throughout your joints and in the long bones of your arms and legs.

    Rickets

    • Although rare in adults, a deficiency of vitamin D may result in rickets, a condition that can cause you to have widespread joint pain and bone deformities.

    Lyme Disease

    • If your joint pain occurred after getting a tick bite or going out in the woods, it may be a result of Lyme Disease.

    Influenza

    • Being ill with influenza ("flu") may cause you to have symptoms including joint pain throughout your body, fever, cough and congestion.
