- 1). Locate the camshaft sensor on the back, right side of the cylinder head, as you are facing the engine. Look at the point of connection of the upper radiator hose on the block. This is the thermostat housing. Look above the thermostat housing and you will see the white coolant temperature sensor and directly above this is the black camshaft sensor. It is right in the middle of the cylinder head.
- 2). Disconnect the electrical connector on the sensor by squeezing the sensor plug and pulling it out. There is a small hook on the bottom of the plug that must be lifted to remove the sensor plug. If squeezing the plug does not raise the hook, push it with a finger to help it release.
- 3). Remove the 10 mm bolt in the sensor bracket using a socket and ratchet. Twist the sensor as it is being pulled out of the cylinder head to ease removal.
- 4). Install the new camshaft sensor by pushing and twisting it into the cylinder head. Align the hole in the sensor bracket with the hole in the cylinder head. Install the bolt and tighten it firmly. Plug the electrical connector into the sensor by simply pushing it straight on.
