If your Xbox 360 console’s ring of light is flashing 2 red lights, it indicates that your console has encountered a Hardware error that is preventing it from starting up. Usually this will follow up with an error message displayed on the screen as well. This error message displays the primary error code, and ranges from E01 up to E80.
The xbox 360 e71 error is a rather common hardware error. The Xbox 360 xbox 360 e71 error involves an error with “xam.xex”, a program in the Xbox 360 software. This is possibly an error related to the updating of the Xbox dashboard.
Fixing the xbox 360 e71 error is quite simple. What you need to do is simply to clear any system updates that cause the console to error. To do this, first switch off the console. With the console switched off, press and hold the sync button (the small white button that is used to search for wireless connections). While holding the sync button, switch on the console by pressing the power button and do not release hold of the sync button until the console is fully booted up. During the booting up of the console, any failed updates will be cleared allowing the console to run normally once again and thus eliminating the xbox 360 e71 error. If your console still doesn’t work then there maybe a more serious problem.
Other errors similar to the xbox 360 e71 error are the E72 error and the E80 error. These errors all involve problems concerning the Xbox dashboard but solutions to these errors may not be the same as the solutions to the E71 error.
